Alphabet Superset Challenge: A Quest for Creators
Updated: 6 days ago
A simple vlog from one of my favourite YouTubers, Struthless, was the start. He introduced Alphabet Superset and I was in.
Cam (aka Struthless, YouTube) asked his community of creative people about their fear of posting their work online. Over 60% said they were too scared to share work and didn’t. It made him realise that he himself only posted 10% of his and he wanted to change that to 100%, for himself and everyone else. To do that, he came up with Alphabet Superset.
The aim of the challenge/quest is to make sharing work on the web fulfilling, not just about pushing out content.

Alphabet Superset Challenge - The Plan
Drawing on the wisdom of Igor Stravinsky, the Alphabet Superset has one variable each week—a letter of the alphabet. Each creator must set, prior to beginning the challenge, the medium, style, output size, and theme. These cannot be changed, giving a parameter for the creator to work within—or a few less things to worry about for each piece of work. Alphabet Superset has it’s own website and if you sign up to the challenge, you’ll have access to worksheets to help you get started and keep going.
What am I doing?
This is what I have chosen to do. Each week, I will write a piece of flash fiction of around 1,000 words, and I will post my stories on my website. My theme is Roget’s Thesaurus. I will use the first word under each letter of the alphabet as my inspiration for each story.
But wait, there’s more!
Alphabet Superset comes with Better Quest. If you expend creativity, then your creativity needs to be fed. Better Quest is all about feeding creativity with a weekly email full of links to articles, artists, and more to inspire. There is an online community on Discord where you can share work, ideas, ask for help, and chat about all kinds of things—I love the pets feed, so many cute pets out there!
For Creative People
If you are looking for inspiration, a goal, and a great community of creative people, Alphabet Superset might be just what you need. As I write, Alphabet Superset is in week B. It’s not too late to start—you can join at any time.
