I’m an advocate for writing the first draft of a story without editing as I go, but the one I’m working on now...wow.
It wasn’t the typos, it was the storyline. I found a short chapter that played absolutely no role (not there now) and then the story began jumping all over the place. Something happened in the story and then I obviously decided it should be deleted and wrote it out, and yet a little further down the track I’d written it back in. Things happened out of sequence at one point (thank goodness for cut-and-paste) and I’m still debating whether to leave the two swear words in, or take them out.
Yesterday was a lot of back and forth, take out and put back, and a good dollop of ‘what on earth…’
The joys of editing.
And I had a ball!
I’ve enjoyed being back with the characters from the White Rose series. I’d forgotten how much I love the interactions between Warren and Sam, and Beth’s occasionally feistiness. So much fun!
For now, I’m off to do some more!
