I read an article this week in Forensic Magazine that explained how scientists are working to develop a fast method a determining sex from a saliva sample. The yet to be developed kit could be used at a crime scene and would enable the rapid narrowing of the potential suspect list. The new method would also preserve the sample, while the current lab based processes usually result in the samples destruction.
The same group of scientists also determined that the amnio acids in a fingerprint can be used to determine sex with an accuracy of over 99%.
Not something I can use in a book – yet – but interesting, nonetheless.
